President's Message

 President’s Message

The school year is well under way and it seems like it is already flying by!  With the kids and school settling into a great routine, some questions have been asked what the role of PTA is and I thought it would be a great time to address them.

Carriage Crest PTSA is 200 members strong and we are well on our way to reaching our goal of 100% membership!  We’d like to thank the staff, families, friends and relatives who have joined our PTSA.  We have a strong community that really cares, supports and advocates for our children.

   What is a PTA?
A PTA unit is a local, self-governing membership association whose main purpose is to promote the health, welfare, safety and education of children and youth in the home, school, community, and place of worship. PTAs traditionally work within a school community, and are in the schools with the permission of the school district and the school principals.

   Why Join a PTA?

Your membership in PTA has a direct impact on your children and the quality of their school. PTA has the ability, more than any other organization, to make a school a better place for your children to learn. PTAs do this by addressing the needs of their individual schools. By becoming a PTA member, you can help identify those needs and develop solutions that may include making the school safer, becoming more technologically advanced, being more tolerant to others' differences, and bringing enriched educational opportunities to the school.

How do PTAs Help Kids?

Providing enrichment programs for children.

Influencing legislation on behalf of children.

Making the school a better place to learn.

How Can I Join PTA?

We have a wonderful Membership committee who sends out information all year long on how to join the PTA. It’s never too late to join the PTSA. If you have not yet joined, but would like to, please contact us.  Membership will have a table set up at Monster Mash Bash, so please stop by.

Our Fall Fundraiser wrapped up last week.  Thanks go out to our co-VPs of Fundraising Patrice Baber and Erica Couch.  They have been very busy the last few weeks getting prizes out to the kids for items sold.  We also want to thank all of you for supporting our Fundraiser.  Money earned for our PTSA supports our children through the Programs and Events that PTSA sponsors.

For those of you who have signed up to volunteer for one of our PTSA committees, our Committee Chairs have been given the list of volunteer names for their committee and someone will be contacting you soon.  We want to thank you for volunteering to help.

We have several upcoming events.  Mark your calendars for our 3rd Monster Mash Bash on Friday, October 30th.  This was a huge success last year and we hope it will be again this year!   Be sure to come in your favorite costume for a fun (and hopefully not too scary) evening!  The Reflections theme this year is “Beauty Is”.  We look forward to seeing all of the wonderful projects submitted by our children.  Don’t forget that Reflections submissions are due on October 29th.

Looking into November, we will have our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly (date tbd).  We hope you will be able to join us for our first General Membership meeting of the year on November 19th.  We will have a brief meeting and elect our Nominating Committee Members prior to the Reflections Awards Ceremony.

Be sure to visit our website, www.ccptsa.com, to get the latest info on various programs and who you can contact if you would like to be more involved.

Feedback is always appreciated and we would love to hear what you think whether it’s something we are doing well or whether it’s something we can improve upon.
