Dad’s Volunteer Day (DVD) provides an opportunity for Dads or other male role models to participate in daily school activities and experience their child’s school learning environment.  Studies show that kids do better in school when their dad (or other male role model) is actively involved in their school life.  Dads, Uncles, Grandpa’s or any male role model are invited to participate in DVD either in the morning or afternoon session, whichever works best for your schedule. 

Responsibilities:  Establish two days, during the year (one in the Fall, one in the Spring) that Dads can plan to take time off work to come volunteer at the school.  Create a flyer to provide information on DVD and how to sign-up.  Coordinate with staff for volunteer security and schedule the dad for a morning and afternoon session.  Create a schedule to provide support in the parking lot, playground and classroom assistance.  Set up a sign-in sheet in the school foyer and have 2 volunteers be runners to help “Dads” get to the classroom.

Volunteers needed: 2-4
Time Commitment: 2 - 4 hrs. twice per year
