COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING

What is CERT?

CERT is a national program that teaches people how to respond in a disaster. Here’s the details.  (More Info)

What are the benefits?

CERT training is awesome!  It helps make our families, schools, neighborhoods and workplaces safer by giving you the experience you need to be prepared and make good decisions for yourself and others an emergency.  The training is free, requires no special skills.

If you would be willing to help the school out in an emergency and you take the training, you could win one of many training incentives that include 1 and 2 person 72 hour kits to help you get your preparedness underway.  Here’s the details.  (More Info)

Who offers classes?

You can choose to attend classes either through the Kent fire department or Fire District 40

When are classes offered?

Classes are held for a few hours, one day/night a week for 8 weeks with final disaster simulation held on a Saturday morning.  Different programs exist for each fire district but between Kent and FD 40, classes are usually offered 2-3 nights a week with one day time class.  Typically they start around September and March of each year.
